Ubisoft has announced that the Mac version of *Assassin's Creed: Shadows*, originally scheduled for release on November 15, 2024, will be delayed by three months, with a new launch date set for February 14, 2025. This game, optimized for Apple Silicon Mac devices, was initially planned to debut on the Mac App Store simultaneously with other platforms. However, due to the complexity of the game's development, Ubisoft has decided to postpone the release.

In a letter to players posted on the official X account, Ubisoft's VP and Executive Producer Marc-Alexis Cote explained the reason for the delay, stating that the company requires more time to refine and polish the game experience, especially in regard to certain key features. He cited the ambitious scale of the game as a primary factor behind the delay.

Additionally, in a notice regarding changes to their financial targets for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, Ubisoft mentioned that part of the decision was influenced by learnings from the release of Star Wars: Outlaws.

Assassin's Creed: Shadows is set in Japan, where players control two protagonists—a shinobi assassin and a legendary samurai. The game allows players to switch between stealth and combat-oriented missions as they explore the vast landscapes of Japan.

Preorders that included season passes will be fully refunded, and future preorders will include the game's first expansion for free. As of now, the game is still listed at $69.99 on the Mac App Store, although the release date has not yet been updated.
